Aya grew up in Himeji, Japan, and began classical piano studies at age 5. At the age of 11, she won the second prize in All Japan Association of Instructor, Piano Competition Junior Section. By the time she turned 12, she completed music theory that meets required level for music college admission exams. Couple of years later, she started studying piano with professors from top-level music colleges including Midori Kataoka, Honorary Professor of Soai College of Music. When she was 17, she won the second prize in Hyogo Student Piano Competition High School Section.

Although she was admitted to Piano Performance major of Osaka College of Music and Osaka College of Art, after high school she enrolled in the Koyo Conservatory, a music school in Kobe, Japan, that is a member of the Berklee International Network. After two years of study there, she was admitted to Berklee College of Music in Boston. She had solo piano recitals at David Friend Recital Hall in Boston, and her Sonata for Cello and Piano was premiered in Boston in 2003. In April 2005, she participated Professional Writing Division Award Concert at Berklee Performance Center.

As a student in Film Scoring major, she developed her skills to broaden musical vocabulary in many field in film music such as composing music for motion pictures, orchestration, conducting and music editing.

After graduating Berklee, Aya had moved to NY in June 2005, and immediately started working at a music productions company, Thoughts In Grey Circles, as an assistant and freelance film composer. She had composed music for FOX TV and various independent films. One of her work, [My First Kiss] had won the first prize at 2007 Yamagata International Movie Festival.

In March 2009, she has returned to Japan and moved to Tokyo.
